Well, you have mentioned 2 possible problems here. Of course your mattress can affect your back. Is it old, sagging, worn, no longer supports? If that was a 'yes' then it definitely isn't helping. If you have back problems your mattress becomes very important, and you really may not realize that until you get a good one. I didn't. It literally made the difference between getting up sore every morning and not. A quick fix can be to put a piece of plywood between your mattress and box spring, but this never helped me. If you have the support but need more cushioning, try the foam or feather bed add-ons to the top of the bed. These are just cheap alternatives to buying a new mattress. I did all this and then finally sprung for the good one. You also mentioned all this has happened since an accident. The question is was there more than just muscle injury done there? Muscle relaxants will only help muscles obviously. They won't do anything for inflammation or more serious problems. You need to discuss this pain with your doctor if it is persisting. |
